About Philip

Philip is a highly skilled and compassionate clinical counsellor, dedicated to helping individuals overcome a range of challenges through evidence-based therapy modalities. With a Master of Divinity in clinical counselling, he has the education and experience necessary to provide effective, customized treatment plans that meet the unique needs of his clients.

Philip’s career journey began in South Sudan, where he coordinated relief and development initiatives to assist individuals affected by armed conflict. During his tenure, he facilitated the provision of potable water to Wau City and established rehabilitation programs to help residents overcome the aftermath of war. His extensive background in humanitarian and social work has honed his skills in handling complex trauma and emotional difficulties, making him a valuable asset to his clients.

As a duly registered Clinical Counsellor with both the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, Philip has over a decade of experience in coaching, counselling, social work, and humanitarian aid work. He is dedicated to providing high-quality counselling and therapy services to the community, drawing on his expertise to facilitate the needs and goals of his clients.

Philip works as an Addiction Counsellor at Abbotsford addiction services, a Group Facilitator at Stroh Health Care in Vancouver, and a Clinical Mental Health Counsellor at the Ann Davis Transition Society in Chilliwack, BC. He is also bilingual, fluent in both English and Arabic, and has worked as an interpreter and translator, making him accessible to clients who prefer to communicate in Arabic.

Philip employs a range of therapeutic approaches, including client-centered therapy, systems approach, Bowen Systems Therapy, and trauma-informed approaches. He specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT), and Focusing-oriented psychotherapy, and is skilled in providing customized treatment for both individuals and couples.

Philip believes that therapy is a collaborative process, and he works closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that suit their unique needs and goals. He is dedicated to helping clients achieve lasting change and find greater fulfillment and meaning in their lives.
