SUMMARY:Planting Seeds of Connection through Nature in Play Therapy when Children are Grieving presented by Rose LaPiere\, LPC\, RPT-S\, ACS\, and sponsored by the BC Play Therapy Association
DESCRIPTION:Learn how nature in play therapy can help children of various ages work with their grief process and the grief process from the perspective of the developmental stages and the polyvagal theory (safety).  Learn how to bring in cues of safety through nature which can help regulate the client and widen their window of tolerance. \n This workshop will help you develop the ability to be with children in their grief process\, and help children move towards healing with nature based interventions.  Learn psychoeducation information and common misconceptions about grief to help caregivers support children. Experiential play therapy activities\, case examples\, and interventions of bringing nature indoors or outdoors will be a part of this training.

It doesn’t come easily\, but with intention & practice it can contribute to our emotional well-being and help us cultivate resilience\, inner strength\, and a more positive outlook on life. \nIn this session\, you’ll learn strategies for practicing self-compassion and how to model it for others in your personal and professional life. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of self-compassion\, including improved relationships\, increased happiness\, and reduced stress and anxiety. \nDon’t miss out on this opportunity to enhance your emotional well-being. Register now at the bottom of this page. \nAbout the presenter\, Lisa Baylis:\nLisa Baylis has been sharing well-being strategies for the past 20 years. A natural-born connector with an innate ability to make people feel valued and heard\, she is a teacher\, a\, Register Clinical Counsellor\, a speaker\, and a mother. Lisa is a published author of Self-Compassion for Educators as well as\, the creator of the AWE Method — Awakening the Wellbeing for Educators — which merges self-care\, mindfulness\, and self-compassion. \nLisa has a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She has taught internationally and locally. Much of her vast teaching experience was gained in classrooms across British Columbia. Currently\, she is bringing her work to all communities that will welcome her\, with the goal of increasing peoples sense of wellness\, community and belonging. She is also working as the Education Director for the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion co-created by Drs. Kristin Neff and Chris Germer. DESCRIPTION:Early attachment injuries forge a neurophysiological template of self and impact affect regulation\, relational functioning\, and distort one’s internal working model(s). The heart of this training addresses the reparation of insecure attachment. The curriculum weaves a framework that draws upon diverse theoretical and conceptual understandings from: attachment theory\, somatic psychotherapy\, trauma studies\, affect regulation and regulation theory\, interpersonal neurobiology\, interpersonal/relational psychoanalytic practice\, and deepening connections to the sentient world.  \nJUNE 2023 COHORT: June 8 – 11\, 2023\, September 28 – October 1st\, 2023\, February 1 – 4th\, 2024\, Year Two dates TBA
