About Nazanin

April 2025- Accepting new clients

Hello,

My name is Nazanin Moghadami and I’m a Kurdish-Iranian clinical feminist, activist and clinical counsellor. My approach to counselling is guided by strong feminist, anti-oppression, anti-racism valued, with recognition of how our early life experiences shape our present life. In other words my practice is informed by the premise that our affect and behavior are rooted in patterns that we internalize as children-the way we learned to relate to our primary caregivers and the society as a whole in childhood. Although all these internalized relationships may need to be reassessed and reframed to facilitate a more satisfying life, our initial sessions will be focused on addressing immediate concerns and creating the stability that is needed for securing long-term results.

I bring my lived, professional and academic experiences as a QTBIMPOC counsellor to my practice, and am looking forward to meeting multiple identities and intersectionalities of folks I work with.

I have feminist, narrative, hakomi, and somatic training. I have level 1 training and certification in EMDR. Over the years, I realized using authentic EMDR does not fit naturally in my practice. I draw upon many principles of EMDR, body-based practices and somatic approach, but don’t use traditional, 8-step EMDR. If you have questions about this, please contact me.

My standard fee is $165 (including GST) for a full-hour session. Most extended insurance companies both from work or universities offer some coverage for counselling by RCC’s (Registered Clinical Counsellors). To find out if you are covered contact you manager, insurance company or student services.
