About Trudy

My aim in psychotherapy and counselling is to help clients gain a greater awareness and understanding of themselves, their issues and their personal history, their feelings, thoughts, and beliefs, and their patterns in interpersonal and family relationships. I believe that with this increased knowledge, clarity and insight, people can experience an improvement in their mental health and emotional well-being, and make more informed choices and intentional changes in their lives.
?
Although my background is holistic and psychodynamic in orientation, I regularly use a supportive, solution-focused and cognitive behavioural approach in my work. I have a broad training and knowledge both within the psychological and homeopathic treatment models. I have extensive psychotherapy and counselling experience with individuals, couples, families and groups, using a range of different therapeutic styles and techniques with children, adolescents, and adults. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, from community mental health teams and private psychotherapy practice, to hospital-based day and inpatient programs and outpatient psychiatry services.
?
I firmly believe in working collaboratively with my clients to find the most appropriate and individualized therapeutic treatment approach. I am effective and comfortable working both longer-term, and within a shorter time-limited framework. Creating a safe and welcoming environment for clients of all backgrounds and cultures is a priority in my practice.
