About Rachel

Hello!

Currently I work as a Clinical Counsellor at Equilibrium Therapeutics (you can book with me for online/virtual counselling through their website/portal or by calling any one of their Tillicum, Yates and Eagle Creek clinics). I hold the titles of Registered Clinical Counsellor, with the BCACC and Canadian Certified Counsellor, with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I am an independent contractor and have been practicing as a counsellor for almost two years, both in community and private practice contexts. Before Equilibrium Therapeutics, I worked as the sole Addiction Counsellor at a First Nation south of my home city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

My first career out of University was as a Qualitative Research Manager at the University of Saskatchewan, supporting hundreds of academic research projects touching areas of sustainability, education, business, mental health, medicine and law. While I am a burgeoning therapist, I have found myself close to the human condition for a lot longer, through those vocational experiences.

While I have encountered a variety of struggles, due to high demand and personal interest, my ongoing professional development goals revolve around the areas of addiction, neurodiversity and couples therapy. I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use the GMCT in therapy work. More than any particular tool, technique, or modality, I believe firmly in the power of the therapeutic alliance and prioritize each person feeling safe and comfortable to be themselves. I care about the work itself but also the way in which it happens.

What I value most about working with others in this capacity is the opportunity to learn from and connect with the human family and help others through the toughness of life. Irrespective of one’s age, socioeconomic status, sexuality, religion, culture, or ability, I believe we all deserve and benefit from mental health support. I am honoured to support you, wherever you are at.
