I am both a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Registered Social Worker (RSW. I provide counselling for adult individuals and couples with a wide range of challenges and goals, specializing in trauma, loss, grief, life transitions and identity issues, both in person in Nelson and virtually. I support clients through a creative blend of practical skills-focused approaches to stabilize challenging situations, as well as opening space for deeper exploration of the ‘why’ behind our behaviours. I am curious about people and their stories. I believe in exploring the context of the whole person within their particular world. My approach is transparent, honest, sometimes funny, and always genuine

Many clients seek my support in processing trauma. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based approach considered a gold standard in trauma treatment. CPT helps clients examine how traumatic experiences have shaped their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world, and supports them in developing more balanced and accurate perspectives. I have extensive experience providing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in both the group and individual context. DBT is a skill focused, evidence-based modality for those who struggle with emotion regulation, managing distress and crisis situations, interpersonal relationships and for those who want to live more in the present moment.

Finding the right therapist is perhaps the most important variable in your treatment. The relationship between counsellor and client is unique. I create a warm, non judgmental space for my clients that is free from the pressures and dynamics of the outside world.
