About Shelley

I specialize in trauma work with children ages 10+, youth, and adults, helping individuals transform and resolve trauma symptoms and traumatic stress. I can help with low mood, depression, mood swings, anxiety and panic, anger, PTSD, self-harming behaviours, suicidal ideation, addictions, shame, early developmental attachment trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, communication problems, work-life balance, and life transitions. I am passionate about supporting and empowering people in their walk towards living their most fulfilling life.
My approach to counselling is non-judgemental, compassionate, strength-based, authentic, and body-oriented. Together we can work to help transform negative core beliefs, undesirable or unhealthy patterns, and find new ways of managing emotional difficulties. I can help you discover your strengths, resiliency, values and vision. I can help you learn coping skills and problem solving strategies to help you achieve the lasting change you are seeking.
I have over 20 years of experience in the human services field, working with Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), non-profit community counselling organizations, and with my private practice located in Saanich, BC.
I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria. I draw upon a range of evidence based approaches and interventions which are tailored to fit your individual, unique needs, wants, and goals. My work is informed by advanced trainings in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Somatic Experiencing, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I incorporate client-centered and mindfulness principles in my approach. I am certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Extended Health Insurance plans may reimburse Registered Clinical Counsellor fees. Please check with your provider, if applicable.
Offering both in person and remote counselling via video and telephone.
I offer free 30 minute consultations. You can reach me by email at [email protected] or telephone at 250-589-2021. Together, lets explore your concerns, needs and goals.
