Theresa works with children, teens, adults, families and couples. Her career has been filled with a passion for counselling, psychology and the human brain. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and a Master of Science (Neuroscience) before coming to Victoria and earning a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology. Since then, she has worked with clients of all ages to help them in their process of healing and self-discovery.
With her warmth, experience and sense of humour, she is skilled at building relationships with clients. She appreciates the opportunity to help her clients to learn about themselves, gain insight in their relationships, and to help foster their personal growth. Some of her areas of speciality include stress, anxiety, anger management, self-esteem, depression, grief/loss and trauma.
Theresa’s approach to counselling is integrated. She uses a variety of modalities, including a client-centred, strengths-based, talk therapy approach. She is trained in different modalities, such as solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), and expressive therapies. She has also completed training in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) and offers this treatment for parents. With her training in neuroscience, and additional training in Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Theresa often integrates education about the brain into her work with clients. Her aim is to help people of all ages understand how our brains function, so that we can also understand the growth and change that we are capable of.
Theresa is originally from BC, and has been fortunate to call Victoria her home for the past 20 years. She happily lives in this beautiful city with her partner and children.
