Introduction to Working with Trauma Exposed Professionals (TExP): Strategies and Approaches for Clinical Work with First Responder Clients

Focusing on Wounded Warriors Canada’s (WWC) approach to working with Trauma Exposed Professionals (TExP) across Canada who are suffering from post-traumatic stress injuries, this workshop covers topics such as:

• understanding Stoic cultural values
• military and first responder organizational expectations
• how traditional approaches to counselling can be counterproductive in the beginning stages of the therapeutic relationship
• how structure and predictability in trauma work can assist both client and counsellor in managing the impacts of chronic traumatic event exposure
