Membership Types
Regulated Membership – Annual Fee $436
Regulated membership is available to qualified clinical counselling/psychotherapy professionals. These professionals can identify themselves as Registered Clinical Counsellors and may use the RCC designation. This membership type and designation is for clinical counsellors/psychotherapists in full or part-time employment with agencies, government, or in school environments, volunteer roles, and for clinical counsellors/psychotherapists in private practice. Professional Liability Insurance coverage is required for the duration of this membership.
Inactive Membership – Annual Fee $120
Inactive membership may be suitable if you are taking a leave from the profession, such as parental leave, medical leave, or a sabbatical. The member must have been an active regulated member for at least 1 year before they can apply for the Inactive membership.
- Professional Liability Insurance coverage is required for the duration of this membership.
- This status is only available for periods longer than 6 months.
- Use of the RCC designation is not permitted while a member holds an inactive status.
BCACC Student Membership – Separate renewal process
Master’s students who belong to the association will renew their memberships on the anniversary that they joined BCACC and not at the same time as the RCC membership renewal period. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
Retiring from practice?
Members who are retiring from practice are encouraged to contact the BCACC to inform them of their intentions. Members who carry Mitchell & Abbott insurance and retire from practice may be eligible for seven years of post-practice coverage. However, members who are terminated for non-renewal do not receive access to this benefit. Please advise our office by email at [email protected] of your intent to retire.
Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance is a requirement for membership with BCACC. Members can contact Mitchell and Abbott directly for more information about insurance.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the professional liability insurance renewal with Mitchell & Abbott occurs separately from the BCACC membership renewal. If you have insurance through Mitchell and Abbott, you must renew the insurance separately from the BCACC membership.
The next insurance term runs from January 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027. Mitchell & Abbott will provide renewal links via email at the end of October/early November. Please ensure that you renew both BCACC membership and the insurance prior to January 1, 2026.
Continuing Education Reporting
Continuing Education credits are not required for membership renewal.
