About Lisa
As a psychotherapist and traumatologist, I specialize in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociation. I am an active member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#2585), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
My work is grounded in a relational psychodynamic framework, informed by attachment theory and contemporary trauma research. I understand mental health challenges as deeply influenced by early attachment experiences and current relational patterns. The therapeutic alliance is central to my practice; I intentionally cultivate a safe, collaborative, and attuned relationship that serves as an active agent of healing and supports the restructuring of longstanding interpersonal dynamics.
I take an integrative and client-centered approach, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities to meet each individual’s unique needs. My training includes Psychodynamic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Ego State Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
I provide individual and family therapy for adolescents, adults, and families of all compositions, and I offer clinical supervision to both practicing clinicians and interns. Over the course of my 20-year career, I have worked extensively with individuals and families navigating the complex dynamics of abuse, neglect, and relational trauma. My areas of clinical focus include self-harm, suicidality, dissociative disorders, PTSD, ADHD, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and parenting concerns.
I am particularly skilled in engaging youth who may be guarded or resistant, helping clients move beyond protective defenses at a pace that feels safe and respectful. I believe that meaningful therapeutic change is rooted in trust, safety, and authentic connection, and I anchor my work in the strength of the relationship we build together.
