BCACC regularly conducts an environmental scan to determine a recommended fee rate for Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) in private practice. This includes surveying its 10,000+ membership, benchmarking fees for clinical counselling and psychotherapy across Canada, and considering cost of living adjustments.

The purpose of this report is to support clinical counsellors by providing useful information they can use when deciding rates for services. Based on this analysis, BCACC recommends the following fee ranges. RCCs may choose to charge more or less depending on their individual circumstances and agreements.

DEFINITIONS
Less Experienced RCCs: Less than 3 years post-masters
More Experienced RCCs: 3-5 years post-masters + Relevant training and demonstratable skills
Clinical Supervisors: Minimum of 5 years post-masters + Relevant training and demonstratable skills

GLOSSARY
Specialized Services
This refers to services delivered by clinicians who have completed substantial postgraduate training beyond foundational professional education, involving structured, multi-component learning (e.g. formal coursework, supervised practice, and/or certification processes with an evaluative component), and who demonstrate applied competence and ongoing clinical use of these skills within their scope of practice. Brief, introductory, and level one trainings alone do not meet this threshold.
