My Practice
In addition to more than 35 years of experience providing individual clinical counseling services, I have also been a supervisor, manager and consultant for a variety of counseling programs in the lower mainland. I have trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities and provided counselling related to assisting clients with an understanding of how to cope with and overcome a broad range of difficulties and concerns. Over the years I have provided assistance with difficulties related to relationships, depression, stress and anxiety, trauma and addictions. We live in a time of rapid change, uncertainty and sometimes difficult transitions and losses. With the increasing stressors we experience, and the resultant sense of isolation and distress, the need to care for ourselves, and at times the need to access services to help us to regain our balance, sense of purpose and connection with others has become vital.
My practice has evolved over the years to assist clients to build the capacity to positively transition through the changes and issues that may be difficult and at times may feel overwhelming. Building rapport, trust and the sense of feeling heard are the most essential components. I believe that re-establishing a sense of balance and moving forward is the primary goal for counselling. To achieve this goal sessions will provide a range of personal skills to build a sense of connection, calm, and a renewed sense of hope.
My experience has been widely diverse working within the context of a number of communities and cultures. I have witnessed that accepting and understanding that each individual comes with unique life experiences and ways of viewing the world. and that therefore the counselling approach needs to be one that will work the best for them as an individual.
I know that every situation and problem comes with unique challenges and am happy to provide an initial telephone or web consultation to assure that we are a good fit to set goals and work together successfully.
