About Buffy

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California.

I have an in-person private practice in Qualicum Beach and I provide online counseling for clients in British Columbia and California.

Individual Somatic Psychotherapy

While I incorporate a variety of modalities into my work as a somatic psychotherapist, I tend to focus on present-moment states of being. This means that I pay close attention to what?s happening in the room, in your body, and between you and me, during our sessions. You may be curious and yet hesitant. I help you embody the resilience you need to become the person you?ve always wanted to be.

I work with individuals healing from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, illness, transitions, divorce, relationships, parenting (2-10 year-olds), family building/reproduction, grief, and loss.

Parenting/Family Therapy

In 2006, when I was first began to practice psychotherapy, I was trained in an effective model of parent-child therapy for kids with clinical behavior disorders known as PCIT.

But then I became a parent and I realized EVERY PARENT needs help parenting.
Today my work with families involves taking everything I know about parent-child relationships, neuro-diversity and behavior and transforming these sometimes complex ideas into viable and effective parenting strategies for families.

Reproductive Counselling

The emotional aspects of family building for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and couples.
The emotional aspects of miscarriage.
Understanding different parenting roles and expectations in a partnership.
The pressures of infertility in a couple.
Postpartum depression, anxiety, or difficulties connecting with baby.
How to speak with children about their conception and how to speak to family, friends, and co-workers about your family-building process.
