About Ruby
I have a passion for working alongside individuals to help them better understand themselves and overcome the particular challenges they face. Over the past 25 years, I have worked with many youth in helping to develop strength and resilience to overcome family conflict, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, gender identification and mental health concerns.
My work within the educational system has provided opportunities to both teach and counsel students with a wide range of cognitive and emotional skills so I have extensive experience in helping youth explore their skills, motivation, interests and personality in order to guide them to their post-secondary paths. I have access to professional assessment models (eg. Strong Interest Inventory, Myers-Briggs Typology Inventory) and can provide professional educational counselling as well as other Level B cognitive assessment for use within the educational system.
I have helped many youth navigate their way through the world of scholarships and bursaries, and have inside tips on how to find and land top scholarships into post-secondary programs.
My thesis and clinical work is primarily in the area of youth and anxiety. I have specialization in helping youth develop the skills and strategies to re-frame anxiety and depression and develop into confident, self-aware individuals.
As well, I have worked with many adults who are working through grief, loss, anxiety, depression, and parenting and family conflict. I have lived experience with many of these issues and can provide clinical support as well as compassion and understanding.
I can meet individually, or through secure videoconferencing or telephone.
