About Sarah

Sarah is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She holds an MEd in counselling from the University of Victoria. Sarah is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certified by the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute started by Dr. Peter Levine.

She feels it is a privilege and honour to support people in the many chapters of life and provide tools and techniques that have been useful for herself and clients to help create and maintain a deeper sense of well-being and purpose in life.

Her counselling orientation is client-centered, strengths-based and trauma-informed. Beyond approaches and models, she believes the most important factor in counselling is the relationship created between herself and the client.

Recently, Sarah completed a three year training in Somatic Experiencing. Somatic Experiencing is an approach to healing trauma, which helps the client safely discharge stress responses that may have become stuck in the nervous system after a stressful situation. One way the stress response is discharged is by noting the physical sensations in the body. This can help the client to gentle move toward self-regulation and coherence.

Sarah has extensive training in Mindfulness-Based Interventions including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Sarah completed a year-long training in MBCT facilitation at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies.
