About Kristi
I wholeheartedly believe in a collaborative approach to counselling. I do not see myself as the driver of the process, but the passenger that is there to help guide you. I believe that each individual has a unique story and requires a therapeutic approach tailored to their needs. I strive to create a comfortable space that gives clients the safety to be vulnerable. I understand the importance of safety and connection to the therapist from my own experience of attending counselling. I feel honored to be invited to walk along an individual?s journey towards wellness and empowerment. I am constantly amazed at the strength and commitment that people have to make positive change in their life.
I am authentic and transparent in therapy. I think all of my clients would agree when I say that I am completely human in session. I strive for authenticity in my personal and professional life. I sense that clients appreciate this side of me because they find it relatable. It can also be humorous at times! I never want to give the impression that I know more or that I am in a position of authority. While my education has granted me knowledge, I believe it is you that knows yourself best.
I have a Master?s Degree in Social Work from the University of the Fraser Valley. My work experience includes working in mental health, health care, the criminal justice system, providing support to families, individual therapy, and group therapy. I have worked in the counselling field since 2010 and have been providing personal counselling in Abbotsford since 2016.
When not at work I enjoy spending time with my two small boys and dog. I like to remain active and engage in outdoor activities. I am also an avid bookworm. I love to travel ? usually I go somewhere near the ocean!
