About Sarah
Parenting is the most invested relationship one can partake in. There are many tasks and challenges involved in guiding little people towards becoming competent, responsible, and happy adults. To add to parent’s best intentions, life can force us to face unexpected events and troubling experiences that affect children and family’s ability to function successfully. This is when it becomes key to activate the perspective that “it takes a whole community to raise a child” and bring in assistance and a sense of support from community professionals. For the last 18 years I have worked as school counsellor for children and youth. Beginning with a Relational Neuroscience perspective, I specialize in Expressive Arts & Synergetic Play Therapy specifically helping children to calm their nervous system and attach to a sense of self. This allows them the ability to tap into and express their struggles while also building their belief in their own capacity to regulate. The goal in the playroom is to create rich experiences where children connect to their true self while assisting the healthy development of their social and emotional world. I see through a trauma informed lens and value working with caregivers on strengthening attachments (Filial & Emotion Focused Family Therapy EFFT) as well as working with the systems (i.e. family, school) that are in relationship with the child
