About Gurroop
Within a non-judgemental, empathetic, and warm therapeutic space, I strive to create an environment where clients feel safe to open up and be vulnerable. As a person-centred counsellor, I welcome collaborative dialogue, supporting clients as they discover progress, determination, growth, and celebration.
While my work is guided primarily by person-centred principles, I also draw from various therapeutic modalities, with a strong emphasis on self-compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Inner Child work. Additionally, I am trained in Emotionally-Focused Therapy for couples and individuals.
My five years of experience as a Family Preservation Counsellor at an Aboriginal agency have equipped me to work sensitively with culturally-specific trauma. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, OCD, mood and eating disorders. As a South Asian woman of color, fluent in Hindi and Punjabi, I bring cultural insight and language skills that enhance my work with diverse clients.
Every day, I am moved by my clients’ courage to share parts of themselves that seek healing—a journey I have also walked. With nearly 10 years of cumulative experience, including my role as a Mental Health Clinician with Fraser Health and my work in private practice, I am continually inspired by the resilience and strength my clients demonstrate. Should I have the privilege of entering your world, I aim to foster greater insight, self-awareness, and recognition of the inherent strengths you carry to overcome life’s challenges.
*I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to all new clients. A sliding scale for those with financial limitations is also available.
