About Connor
Thanks for taking the first steps to learn more about yourself by exploring counseling! While I know this journey to understand yourself better often starts in a place that feels scary, chaotic, or vulnerable, I am always honoured to be a part of it for those who invite me.
I have worked in all levels of mental health care (community, outpatient, residential, acute) over my 15 year career and I have been counselling for the last 8 years. I am trained as a social worker, so central to my practice is a humanistic approach that centres people?s innate value, strengths, and motivations. My counselling approach is collaborative and consent-based, which means we work on what matters most to you and do so with respect to your limits and capacity. I have found many clients often may not know how to articulate exactly what it is that is bothering them so I often start by helping people find words for what doesn?t feel right and going from there. I will also actively include questions about what things would bring more delight and pleasure into peoples? lives as they grow. Counselling is helpful not only for addressing difficulties or challenges but also for building long-term happiness into one?s life.
I take seriously the effects of oppression from individuals, systems, and the economic structure we exist in, so I welcome for you to reflect on this and for us to integrate it into our work since oppression can be very damaging to our sense of wellness.
I am comfortable working with survivors of trauma and/or mental health crisis as well as people who simply may be looking to explore changes in their lives. I currently only offer online virtual counselling. If you would like to work with me, please contact me for a free-of-charge 20 minute consultation via phone where I can learn more about you, tell you more of what our work could look like, and detail how my services could be of benefit.
