About Alexandra
“The work of therapy is not to help people adjust to oppression.”
This statement grounds me in my work as a counsellor, supporting clients from an anti-oppressive, fat liberationist, and intersectional feminist lens. I believe that people are always doing their best to keep themselves safe under the oppressive systems of colonialism, capitalism, and systemic racism. In doing so, we often create survival patterns, which can harm us or make life more difficult over time. I support clients in identifying these patterns, how the patterns have served them, and where it is safe to explore making change.
I support clients to feel more at home in their bodies from an anti-diet and HAES-informed approach. I can help you to understand how your nervous system responds to your environment, process emotions/stress/anxiety, improve your relationship with food and exercise, establish and maintain boundaries, and navigate life changes.
Clients have said that they appreciate my compassionate and direct approach; that I show up as a complete person in session, not a blank slate.
I offer a free, 20-minute consultation for you to ask me any questions and decide if I’m going to be the right counsellor for you.
You can complete a counselling request form online through my website. I look forward to meeting you!
