About Erin
My main focus is understanding the people I work with. I am curious about why we behave, think, and feel like we do. I aim to help you know your life story more meaningfully. Often, people feel guilty and ashamed about their current situation, even though they want to make changes. What is causing me to feel triggered? How can I put an end to my constant worrying? Why am I reacting in this manner? Sometimes, we feel powerless when we don’t understand ourselves. Understanding our life stories helps us make changes.
In my work with people, I often refer to attachment theory as a guiding principle. In our work together, I prefer to explore attachment strategies or tendencies that manifest during stressful relationship situations rather than using the term “attachment style.” As our therapeutic relationship grows, we might explore whether you feel you display avoidant or anxious tendencies. Your attachment style is not fixed and can’t be viewed myopically. Humans and relationships are complex; different people and situations bring out different traits.
I pull from a wide variety of therapeutic approaches based on the needs that you may have. I am not married to one approach of going about therapy, that would seem like a contradictory idea given the complexity of the problems and struggles people often bring to therapy. However, I always encourage the people I work with to let me know if there is an approach that works for them, or even an approach that they feel might really resonate for them.
I am a mother, daughter, sister and friend and believe that relationships are the most fundamental components in our lives. We need to be in connection! I have always loved psychology as it has helped me self-actualize and grow out of my own negative patterns! I love reading, I have a lot of tattoos and I sing as a side hobby.
