Life can throw challenges our way that feel overwhelming and unmanageable. Coming to a realization that we could use help, and seeking a therapist are big steps. The therapeutic relationship offers a unique space to look at and discuss deeply personal things in a safe, non-judgmental environment. It can feel like a big risk to open up about our struggles. I encourage anyone seeking therapy to search for a therapist that they feel comfortable with. I believe it is my job to foster trust and safety so that we can work through difficult feelings.

From my perspective there is no definitive ranking of problems. What may seem like a small problem to one may leave another feeling stuck and unable to move forward. I view every client’s issues as equally important and see it as my job to walk alongside you through difficult terrain. I believe that people, like all living things, are inherently driven to thrive and grow. When given the right conditions, we are capable of making meaningful changes and achieving our fullest potential.

I use an eclectic, integrative approach, adapted to the specific wants and needs of each individual. My work draws from a handful of different theoretical orientations, and is implemented in a mutually agreed-upon, collaborative process with each client. In therapy you can expect me to meet you where you are at, and hold space for you. Genuine interest, compassion and empathy are the foundation of supportive counselling. We will work together to identify and prioritize your goals. Your wants and needs may change through our work and we will adjust our plan and set an agenda that is adaptive to your evolving priorities. Collaboratively, we will look at important recurring themes to shed light on these issues in a way that could be considered co-creating meaning. This can be an essential process of working towards meaningful change. I have worked in numerous roles in the mental health field, providing support to individuals faced with a wide range of challenges. I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to work together.
