About Keri

I have worked for well over 20 years with people who experience difficulty with life situations, emotions, actions, or remaining connected in relationships. I have worked with folks (and the important people in their life) in hospitals and community settings, often as part of crisis and mental health services. While having benefited from training and practice in many modalities like CBT, mindfulness, DBT, ACT, EFT, MI, Somatic, group and Family Systems Therapies, Narrative Therapy has provided the worldview and approach of preference particularly when responding to a wide range of problems in people�s lives, including her own. I have become increasingly interested in exploring how the body responds to adversity, and how healing happens not only in how we enact meaning in our lives, but also in how we can help our bodies process the effects of these challenges.

Narrative Therapy is a deeply respectful and non-blaming approach to counselling which centers people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives. It explores how we (or others) make and enact meaning in our lives, and calls into question the effects of unquestioned assumptions, pressures and biases. It is through conversations and reflections that problems can be investigated and then addressed in preferred ways.

Virtual Counselling can be a good alternative to getting some assistance in facing life challenges as it is often more accessible and flexible for individuals, couples, groups and families. It can be more convenient and helpful if you don�t know where to start, have other commitments or a situation that makes getting to another place tricky. It is about engaging in a conversation like we might face to face, only over the phone or by video. It is convenient and completely confidential.
