About Deanna

Hello,

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent several years working in community‑based anti‑violence services. This work shaped my understanding of how people carry trauma, responsibility, and emotional labour in ways that often go unseen. I have supported individuals navigating:

– physical, sexual, emotional, financial, and domestic assault
– homelessness or risk of homelessness
– substance use, self‑harm, chronic pain, and suicidal ideation
– trauma including CPTSD, PTSD, childhood, workplace, and intergenerational trauma
– anxiety, overwhelming emotions, and complex behavioural responses
– neurodivergence and non‑normative relationships
– frontline, trauma-exposed professionals, and residential program stress

My counselling approach is Integrative, drawing from DBT skills, DBT for CPTSD, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, Clinical Hypnosis, and Motivational Interviewing. I also bring an interest in Intersectionality and body‑oriented therapy, supporting clients through both a systemic and nervous‑system lens. As a non‑binary, LGBTQIA+ therapist with 20+ years in anti‑violence and front‑line work, I offer a grounded, trauma‑informed, person‑centred space.

I offer a free 15‑minute information session for anyone wanting to learn more before deciding whether to work together. To book or ask questions, please email [email protected] or call (236) 300-2879.
