About Heather

Does the idea of sitting across from a silently nodding therapist make you cringe? Yeah, me too. That’s why my style is conversational, warm, and just a little kooky… I’m Heather! 🙂 I’m a clinical (but not too clinical) counsellor in Nelson, BC, and the heart behind The Lounge Room. I have a Master of Counselling from CityU and a BA in Psychology from UVic, plus a few random letters that look like alphabet soup after my name (MC, RCC, and CCC). I started The Lounge Room because I wanted therapy to feel a little less clinical and a lot more human. My approach is grounded, collaborative, and sprinkled with humour – the kind that comes from knowing life is just… a lot sometimes.

I’m not here to fix you or give you five-step plans. I’m here to meet you where you’re at, with curiosity, honesty, and zero judgment. Mostly, I just love real conversations – the kind that meander between heavy and hilarious, awkward and profound.
