About Donald (Jordie)
I am practicing in Revelstoke and Salmon Arm and I welcome opportunities to collaborate in supporting clients’ in person and virtually. I value respectful, collegial relationships that enhance patient care across disciplines.
I have experience working with individuals impacted by trauma and a broad range of mental health and life challenges. These include depression, anxiety, addiction and recovery, obsessive-compulsive disorders, grief and loss, work-related stress, legal involvement, chronic pain and illness, and interpersonal and relational concerns. My practice is compassionate, non-judgmental, strengths-based, and evidence-informed. I offer clinical counselling that is grounded in radical acceptance, authenticity, accurate empathy, and a deeply held sense of hope.
I integrate mindfulness and trauma-informed approaches into my work and focus on fostering client-centred relationships—with both self and others. I currently serve as a high school mental health counsellor in the Shuswap, alongside my private practice, where I support youth, adolescents, and adults using a growth-oriented framework. My work emphasizes restoring clients’ relationships with themselves and those in their lives, cultivating self-compassion, interrupting unhelpful thought patterns, and reframing challenges as opportunities for growth and meaning.
I have lived and worked throughout Salmon Arm, Utah, Idaho, and southern British Columbia, and I now live and practice within the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the Secwepemc, Sinixt, Syilx, and Ktunaxa Nations. I am grateful to be part of the vibrant communities spanning the Shuswap to Revelstoke. Through periods of instability and transition, I have come to deeply appreciate how grounded mental health practices support families, strengthen homes, and build resilient, connected communities.
I welcome individuals from all walks of life into my Revelstoke-based practice. I have significant experience working with marginalized and vulnerable populations and strive to create a space that is respectful, inclusive, and grounded in dignity. This includes supporting individuals who are navigating systemic barriers related to culture, race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic background.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counsellor Education from Gonzaga University and practice with a strong professional and ethical foundation. My training emphasizes ethical, collaborative, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed counselling practices. I continue to develop professionally through adherence to the BCACC Code of Ethics, regular consultation, and respectful collaboration with healthcare providers.
Lastly, I have strong history in athletics, coaching, and education holding a Master’s in Physical Education. I played basketball in the NCAA Division 1, for the Canadian Men’s National team, and also have coached at various levels. If you are an athlete
I value collaborative relationships with healthcare professionals and welcome referrals or consultation opportunities.
With gratitude,
