We are currently seeking experienced Psychotherapists to join our growing Vancouver and Surrey clinics and support expanded access to innovative mental health care. Full‑time and part‑time roles are available.
Position Summary
The Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapist (KAP Therapist) demands a senior clinical role responsible for delivering high-quality, ethically grounded psychotherapy within a ketamine-assisted treatment model. The therapist works collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, and clinical leadership to support patient preparation, in-session psychological support, and post-session integration, in accordance with professional standards and clinic policies.This role requires advanced clinical judgment, strong relational capacity, and comfort working with non-ordinary states of consciousness, trauma-related presentations, and complex mental and physical health conditions.
Required Qualifications
Education & Registration
- Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or Social Work with a clinical orientation, or a related mental health discipline
- Current registration and good standing with a recognized professional regulatory body or association (e.g., BCACC, CRPO, NSCCT, College of Psychologists, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years of post-registration clinical counselling/psychotherapy experience
Language Requirements
- Fluent and professionally proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Additional language proficiency is considered a strong asset, but does not replace the requirement for English fluency
Clinical Experience & Competencies
- Demonstrated experience working with complex mental health presentations, including but not limited to:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Treatment-resistant depression
- Anxiety disorders
- Moral injury, grief, and existential distress
- Strong grounding in at least one evidence-based psychotherapy modality (e.g., Trauma therapies, somatic approaches, psychodynamic therapy, psychoanalytic, Jungian, ACT, IFS, EMDR, SE, mentalization-based therapy (MBT) or related frameworks)
- Ability to accurately identify trauma arousal states (hyperarousal, hypoarousal, collapse) and respond with appropriate pacing and regulation
- Detects subtle and overt dissociative processes (fragmentation, depersonalization, derealization) and responds without alarm or intrusion
- Recognizes resistance or defensive strategies (avoidance, intellectualization, control, compliance) and names them gently, compassionately, and without confrontation
- Demonstrates high self-awareness and has comfort with transference and countertransference, using this information thoughtfully rather than reactively
- Maintains reflective distance and emotional regulation even when relational dynamics are complex or activating
- Uses language that preserves dignity, autonomy, and safety while inviting curiosity
- Experience providing preparation, therapeutic presence, and integration support in ketamine-assisted or psychedelic-informed therapy models (preferred; training may be provided for otherwise qualified candidates)
- Ability to assess psychological readiness, stability, and appropriateness for ketamine-assisted treatment
Core Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Conduct comprehensive psychotherapy assessments and treatment planning in collaboration with the medical team
- Provide pre-treatment preparation sessions to support psychological readiness and informed consent
- Offer therapeutic presence and psychological support during ketamine sessions within the scope of practice
- Deliver post-session integration psychotherapy to help patients process and integrate their experiences
- Monitor psychological response, risk, and progress across the course of treatment
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and clinical leadership to support coordinated care
- Participate in regular case reviews, treatment planning meetings, and clinical consultations
- Communicate clinical observations and concerns clearly and professionally to the care team
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and regulator-compliant clinical documentation
- Contribute to informed consent processes and treatment reviews
- Adhere to clinic policies, professional standards, and ethical guidelines

- High level of emotional maturity, self-regulation, and professional boundaries
- Capacity to remain grounded, present, and clinically attuned during altered states of consciousness
- Strong ethical judgment and respect for the scope of practice
- Cultural humility and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and identities
- Ability to tolerate ambiguity and complexity while maintaining clinical structure
- Commitment to reflective practice, consultation, and ongoing professional development
- Given the altered-state and relational intensity of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, advanced capacity for mentalization, attunement, and non-verbal therapeutic presence is considered a core competency for this role.
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Formal training or certification in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy or psychedelic-assisted therapy
- Experience working with veterans, first responders, or high-risk populations
- Proficiency in an additional language
- Experience in multidisciplinary or medicalized mental health settings
