Overview for International RCC Applicants
International Credential Evaluations
If you received your degree outside of Canada, your degree will need to be evaluated by a member agency of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada.
Please request a comprehensive report that shows your degree is equivalent to a Canadian degree and includes a list of coursework that was completed as part of that degree.
Official documents must be sent directly from the evaluator to BCACC. We cannot accept official documents sent directly by you.

Translation Guidelines
Any documents you submit as part of your application package must be in English. If translation is needed, please use a Certified Translator in Canada. Here are some resources you can use:

Clinical Supervision
If you received clinical supervision outside of Canada, it can be considered for your application as long as your clinical supervisor(s) meet BCACC’s clinical reference criteria.

English Language Proficiency
All applicants looking to become an RCC must demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency. You can provide proof of your proficiency through one of these options:
- Your Degree – The primary language of instruction when completing your master’s degree was English
- Regulatory Organization – You are registered with another Canadian counselling or psychotherapy regulatory body that can confirm you meet the English language requirements
- English Test – BCACC accepts IELTS, TOEFL, and CELPIP test results (see page 9 of the application guidebook for more information)
