Distinguished Lifetime Contributions to Clinical Counselling and Psychotherapy

BCACC’s highest award is presented to Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) and recently retired RCCs who have made a memorable and significant impact on the profession of clinical counselling and psychotherapy throughout their careers.

This award not only recognizes tenure and experience but also honors those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and a lasting influence in the field. It celebrates individuals whose contributions have advanced the profession, shaped its future, and positively impacted both practice and the community.

Applicants are encouraged to provide detailed, thoughtful responses addressing the following areas to demonstrate how they meet the award criteria. While BCACC welcomes brief supporting links or resources, please refrain from submitting an extensive CV without clearly articulating your qualifications. It is essential to explicitly outline, in your own words, why you are particularly well-suited for this prestigious recognition.

Criteria

Provide a summary of your career, emphasizing years of experience and sustained commitment to the clinical counselling and psychotherapy profession. Include not just the number of years practicing but also major career milestones and long-term contributions to the field.
Describe your work in the field, highlighting excellence in clinical practice. This may include a description of client work, impact on clients, evidence-based practices employed, and how high standards of ethical and professional conduct are maintained.
Provide examples of innovative programs, services, or interventions you have initiated or led in counselling and psychotherapy. This may involve developing new therapeutic approaches, innovative treatment methods, or creating opportunities for less experienced practitioners.
Detail any contributions to the development or advancement of therapeutic modalities, whether through research, publications, or the creation of new frameworks or methodologies. This can include expanding theoretical underpinnings or practical applications.
Outline your role in educating future clinical counsellors or psychotherapists, including teaching courses, developing curricula, and conducting workshops. Contributions to professional development, publications, or online resources for continuing education may also be included.
Describe efforts to raise awareness of the clinical counselling and psychotherapy profession, including advocating for improved mental health policies, initiatives that support community well-being, or contributions to public discourse on mental health care.
Provide details on how strategic partnerships with professionals, organizations, or community groups have been formed and nurtured to enhance the effectiveness and reach of your work. This may include collaborations with healthcare providers, educational institutions, or community services.
