About Adele
Hello. Thank you for your interest in my services. My qualification to provide counselling services include a Master of Arts Counselling Psychology Degree from City University of Seattle as well as a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of Victoria. I am a Clinical Counsellor registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Copies of documents will be provided upon request. I adhere to the ethics and guidelines of the BCACC. I have over 25 years of experience as a counsellor in several settings and with a number of presenting issues.
The foundation of my work with clients involves assisting clients, through talk therapy, to find their areas of strength, what strategies are working for them in their lives and to identify areas where they would like to make some changes. I draw on many modalities in my therapy including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and EMDR.
Counselling provides a space and opportunity for you to explore behaviour, relationships, feelings, or thoughts which benefit you and those that trouble you and cause difficulty in your life. Counselling is also a legitimate source of support in a crisis or during a difficulty time. Counselling can bring deeper personal insight and awareness, better ways of understanding and coping with problems, and improved relationships, daily functioning, and quality of life. You should know, however, that to get the most out of your counselling sessions, you will need to be willing to examine difficult topics or times in your life, to experience strong emotions and to try out new and different behaviours.
Please contact me if you would like to have a free 20 minute consultation to determine if I am a good fit for you.
