About Alana

Life has many ups and downs. There are moments when life is amazing, awful and even mundane. Therapy can be a place to help you hold on through the awful, celebrate the amazing and break up the mundane. My great passion is helping clients through all of life?s moments to find their inner strength and live life more fully and authentically.

I help my clients learn how to establish healthy boundaries, find compassion for themselves and strengthen their relationships. I believe it is important to collaborate with clients as they are the experts in their own lives and hold the wisdom for change within.

I have several years of experience working as a generalist practitioner and I recognize no single approach is the right fit for every individual. I draw from a range of modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, art therapy and narrative therapy. The basis of my approach stems from an attachment and person-centered approach and I believe acceptance, unconditional positive regard and empathy are the core components to a therapeutic relationship.

My educational background includes a Master of Counselling degree from Athabasca University and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Canadian Counsellor. I am also currently pursuing a Certificate in Perinatal Mental Health from Postpartum International. I have also worked as a Child and Youth Mental Health clinician for the past 8 years and in private practice for the past 4 years.

I am located in Invermere BC for in-person sessions and I am also available to do online and telephone appointments.
