About Barry
How could your life be different:
– If you could control your memories, instead of being controlled by them?
– If you stopped trying to control your emotions, and understood how to work with them instead?
– And, if you carried even a slightly more accurate understanding of yourself and human nature into your personal and other social relationships?
Emotional Self-Regulation (ESR) research is the focus of my doctoral dissertation, as applied to working with difficult and traumatic memories. However, the ESR perspective of acknowledging emotion as a central factor in all human functioning is generally applicable to all the challenges, discouragements, conflicts, collaborations, motivations, pain, and pleasure we experience during our lives.
I’m trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including mindfulness-based CBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural, systemic, somatosensory, emotionally-focused, and brief solution-focused modalities. I strive to stay on the cutting edge of therapeutic research, and to connect with and help my clients benefit from best-practice methods of psychotherapy.
Your life can be different, starting now.
