About Bethany

Hello, and welcome.

My name is Bethany. I hold a Bachelor of Health Science from Thompson Rivers University and a Master of Counselling from City University in Vancouver. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association.

I work primarily with adults who have suffered trauma of all kinds. This includes single incidents (car accidents, workplace incidents, assault) as well as complex and childhood traumas, and attachment injuries.

I deeply love the work I do – the work you are choosing to show up for. It takes bravery to face what happened to you. To recognize how you survived. To have the courage to hold and grieve what didn’t happen, what was missing that you needed and didn’t get at the time.

Trauma therapy is about undoing unbearable aloneness. I am here to bear witness to your suffering. I am here to help you hold, process, and integrate what needs to be integrated. To learn the skills you need to learn to get through this. I am here to hold the hope when it feels hard to hold.

The good news is, healing from trauma is possible. Yes, even yours. It takes commitment and hard work, but it is possible. And it’s worth it.

What I can help with:
– Trauma therapy for single incidents (car accidents, natural disasters, workplace incidents, assaults, etc.).
– Therapy for PTSD.
– Healing from relational trauma – for example, from experiences of abuse, neglect, loss, separation.
– Healing from childhood experiences of misattunement, parentification, nonrecognition, unpredictable or intrusive caregiving, complex PTSD, adoption.
– Feelings of anxiety, depression, and low self-worth

My approach is somatic, embodied, and relational. I attempt to balance constructively in the dialectical space between worlds. Between acceptance and change. Structure and free-flowing inquiry. Left brain and right brain. Concrete and intuitive. I do my best to meet you where you are and gently guide you on your journey.

Therapeutic modalities:

I draw primarily from somatic attachment psychotherapy, EMDR, internal family systems (IFS), and brainspotting. You can expect sessions with me to be warm, attuned, and validating. Our work together will be trauma-informed, inclusive, queer-affirming, anti-oppressive, and collaborative.
