About Carmen
Each person is unique and comes with their own challenges and strengths. Building trust is most important and I tailor my approach to the needs of each client, including a variety of modalities depending on what works best for your needs and personality. I enjoy working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds, and I have an extensive understanding of Indigenous issues, such as the impacts of colonization and intergenerational trauma. We are all impacted by our family of origin and the culture/belief system we grew up in; therapy can be a powerful tool for deeper exploration and processing and help us live a more authentic and soulful life. After all the word ‘Psychotherapy’ comes from Greek meaning “Healing of the Soul”.
I work in a client centered way and believe that creating a welcoming atmosphere and using occasional humor creates a comfortable space, where the difficult things in life can be shared more easily. I also work with the strengths of my clients – exploring thought patterns and working on coping strategies (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I am also fluent in German and can offer sessions in both languages (English and German).
