You are complex and self-aware, doing your best to survive, even flourish, in this crazy world. Much like me. Like most of us.
You are not a faulty machine needing a technician with a box of tools.
You aren’t ill and in need of diagnosis and treatments.
But something isn’t working, something isn’t right. Maybe you have ideas what that’s about. Maybe it is a total mystery.
My job is helping you towards the life you want to be living in either case. Sometimes that can mean thinking specifically about one or more of the kinds of concern this website lists. Sometimes it takes a more holistic view.

Effective counselling is relational, and there’s no decent evidence that anything other than the relationship really matters, so I’m sceptical about modalities. I practice, teach, and have written of a relational counselling that is gently curious about what our bodies have to tell us, deeply person-centered, entwined with experiential focusing, and effective both short and long term. It works for children, young people, adults, couples, and those identifying as LGBTQ2. I’ve not specialised in a particular client group because it has always been distinct, unique individuals who have sought my help.

I’m open to the spiritual, but I know that it doesn’t make any sense to some people, and when that is the case, it is fine with me.

I support fellow professionals by providing clinical supervision, consultation, and personal therapy when needed. I am an ethicist with BCACC Board experience, I have developed training programs for three universities, and I am willing both to share my own way of approaching counselling and to work with colleagues holding different perspectives.

My current practice is by telephone. That enables me to work outside my own limited geographical area. When I had a walk-in counselling office, I still worked in part by telephone, so distance counselling is something I’m very familiar with.
