About Dyalla
My name is Dyalla. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and Bachelors in International Development studies.
As a counsellor, I am committed to co-creating a space where my clients feel safe, welcomed, and free to show up as their whole, unfiltered self. I prioritize creating a nurturing therapeutic relationship that is rooted in openness, compassion and collaboration. My therapeutic approach is integrative, trauma-informed and holistic. I recognize that every person is different, and our work together will always be guided and adapted to your unique needs and goals. Some of the modalities I draw from include (but are not limited to) Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and somatic and mindfulness based approaches.
I care deeply about collective liberation and justice, and as a therapist, I am constantly striving towards culturally responsive, intersectional and anti-oppressive ways of care. Influenced by my personal, professional and educational experiences, I recognize how systemic oppression and intergenerational trauma shape individual and collective well-being and healing. Within our work together, there is always space to explore these influences.
I work with individuals, couples and youth ages 16 and over, and offer services both in-person and online. Influenced by my own mixed-race, multiethnic and cultural background, I am especially committed to working with people of the global majority/BIPoC communities.
I have previous experience providing cross-cultural and trauma-informed counselling to immigrant and refugee adults and youth, supporting women and 2SLGBTQIA+ survivors of gender-based violence and working with unhoused women and gender-diverse folk in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
My areas of focus include:
– Bicultural identities, acculturation stress & intergenerational trauma
– Racial & systemic trauma
– Identity & belonging
– Anxiety
– Depression
– Relationship challenges
– Life transitions & personal growth
– Gender-based violence
I understand how important it is to find the right therapist and offer a free 20 minute consultation to see whether it may be a good fit.
