About Dylan

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. If my background and approach feel like a good fit for your needs, I invite you to reach out to arrange a free 15-minute consultation.

I believe that each person is the expert of their own life. Sometimes, lived experiences and challenges can blur our internal wisdom, making it harder to live in alignment with our values and aspirations.

I bring over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. I have 16 years of experience as a clinical counsellor, working with youth, families, couples, and individuals across various life stages and transitions. I have experience supporting youth and their families in community settings, and have worked in post-secondary settings supporting folks from diverse lived experiences.
I’m passionate about contemplative practices and their connection to wellness.

My clinical work is guided by our brain’s ability to process experiences and adapt. Positive shift in our lives can be grown through experiencing positive connections, moments of joy, and by creating a space to reflect and be heard. Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. Please reach out if my background and approach feel like a good fit.

Professional Background
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (2009)

In addition to my current role at Douglas College, I’ve worked with the RCMP and the City of Surrey to support youth and their families. My counselling experience includes helping people navigate challenges such as:
-Anxiety and depression
-Career indecision and planning
-Educational pathing
-Relationship concerns
-Parenting
-Stress management
-Life transitions and general life challenges

I take a client-centred, collaborative approach to therapy. Together, we’ll find a path that suits your unique needs. Some clients benefit from a structured framework like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, while others prefer a more open, exploratory space to reflect on their goals and experiences. Whether you’re seeking practical tools or deeper insight, our work will be tailored to you.

I draw primarily from:
-Adlerian Therapy
-Existential Therapy
-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Interests & Philosophy
I’m passionate about contemplative practices and their connection to wellness. These include:
-Meditation
-Nature immersion (“forest bathing”)
-Mindful movement
-Outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping
-Community connections and volunteerism

I am committed to lifelong learning. Recent training I have completed includes: Learning into Liberatory Practice: Bringing Love and Relationality Back into Therapy, Counselling at a Distance: Using Video to Connect with Clients, Safe and Sound Protocol and Training, and Focus System Training.

Outside of Work
I spend my free time outdoors with family and friends—fishing, camping, kayaking, and hiking. I’m also an active volunteer in both my community and workplace.
