About Emma
My approach incorporates an empathic, practical and relational approach to psychotherapy. I possess, respected, strong diagnostic and clinical skills. These areas are reflected in the care and treatment I offer, which is relationship-based and incorporates current research in neuroscience, developmental psychology, and attachment theory. With extensive training and experience in psychology and social services, I have worked with children with a range of socio-emotional, developmental and behavioural problems at all stages of development. My parenting experience has enriched my therapeutic work, providing greater empathy and understanding for the children and parents I care for.
I moved to the Comox Valley with my family 2011 from the U.K. My career began in the U.K. nursing, where I specialised in Emergency Room medicine. Then, I trained in Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatry. Following numerous life turns, including living and working in Pakistan and South Africa, I decided to change the direction of my career. I began studying psychology and successfully trained as a psychotherapist and psychologist in the U.K. My family and I are now proud Canadians!
I own two dogs who can act as therapy dogs during our sessions. If you wish Charlie or Dudley to be present, I will do my best to accommodate their attendance.
