Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) | Individual Psychotherapy, Couples Counselling & Family Counselling

With over 15 years of professional experience in psychology, psychotherapy, and counselling, I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My clinical practice focuses on treating anxiety disorders, depression, mood and emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, and family-related concerns.

A significant part of my professional experience is dedicated to couples therapy and marriage counselling. I help couples better understand their relationship patterns, manage recurring conflicts, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional intimacy. My work also addresses attachment-related difficulties, emotional disconnection, relationship dissatisfaction, and unresolved conflicts.

Therapeutic Approaches

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, evidence-informed, and tailored to each client’s individual needs and circumstances. I believe that treatment should be guided by a thorough understanding of each person’s concerns, life experiences, and therapeutic goals.

In my clinical practice, I draw on the following therapeutic approaches:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours associated with anxiety, depression, and other psychological difficulties.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Enhancing psychological flexibility, accepting difficult emotional experiences, and encouraging actions aligned with personal values.

Schema Therapy: Exploring deeply rooted emotional patterns, beliefs shaped by past experiences, and recurring relationship difficulties.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Developing emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy: Improving communication, managing conflict, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional intimacy between partners.

Glasser’s Reality Therapy and Choice Theory: Understanding basic psychological needs, strengthening personal responsibility, and making more effective choices to build healthier relationships.

My Philosophy of Psychotherapy

I believe that effective psychotherapy goes beyond reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other psychological difficulties. It offers an opportunity to develop deeper self-awareness, understand emotional and cognitive patterns, and explore experiences that may contribute to current challenges. My work focuses on addressing immediate concerns while identifying underlying factors, strengthening personal resources, and supporting meaningful, lasting change.

Building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, mutual respect, empathy, and non-judgmental acceptance is fundamental to my practice. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process that respects each client’s values, cultural background, and individual circumstances. In couples therapy, I emphasize understanding emotional needs, improving communication, and fostering mutual understanding. My goal is to help clients achieve greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
