About Jasmine
SOAR Counselling Founder, Jasmine Bird, is a passionate and dedicated Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who specializes in working with children, youth, caregivers, and families impacted by mental health challenges.
She has over a decade of experience working across various mental health settings, such as Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry with BC Childrens Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital; Community Child and Youth Mental Health Outpatient Programs with Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and Fraser Health Authority; Elementary and Highschool Remedial Programs in Vancouver and Burnaby School Districts; and a variety of Non-Profit Organizations throughout the Lower Mainland. Jasmine also enjoys providing guest lectures at Douglas College to Child and Youth Care, Social Work, and Therapeutic Recreation students.
Jasmine holds a Master of Arts Degree in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria with a completed thesis titled: Mindful Children: Exploring the Conceptualization of Mindfulness Practice in Public Elementary School Settings. As well, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Youth care, Diploma in Youth Justice, Advanced Practice in Child and Youth Mental Health Certificate, and is always seeking new training opportunities in the field so as to remain up to date with evidence based practices.
She utilizes a client and family centered, trauma informed, eclectic approach – drawing from various counselling modalities, such as, though not limited to; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT); Narrative Therapy; Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT); and Mindfulness Based Practices.
As well, Jasmine enjoys spending quality time with her husband, baby boy, and french bulldog. She loves living on the West Coast, often spending time out in nature, cooking and entertaining, exploring local menus, and travelling to new destinations when given the chance.
