Jennifer Hanson is the founder and clinician at Open Circle Counselling, based in Williams Lake, BC, with availability for virtual counselling throughout Canada. She has experience in both rural and urban settings working with individuals exposed to early childhood trauma and neglect, as well as treating individuals with a diverse range of issues, such as eating disorders, low-self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidality, substance dependency/concurrent disorders, and/or sexual orientation and gender identity issues. She is trained as a graduate with a Master of Art in Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University and the Adler School of Professional Psychology, with additional extensive training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT}, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT}, expressive art therapies, interpersonal therapy (IPT} and Emotion Focussed Family Therapy (EFFT). She has a strong foundation in the relational orientations, such as Person-Centered and Adlerian psychology, which guide her practice, while other orientations are incorporated as needed for the client’s goals.
