About Jennifer
Specialization:
Mental health counselling for educators
Originally from a small community in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where people often “tell it like it is,” Jenn is a former teacher of 13 years and has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 2022. Her professional experience in both the education and mental health system provides a unique, outside-the-box perspective.
Jenn has extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and school avoidance.
Jenn is most passionate about supporting educators who are experiencing mental health problems due to the demands of classrooms and school cultures. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate whose research focus explores the connection between mental health literacy, school culture, and educator wellbeing.
Jenn’s forte is meeting people where they are and helping them recognize their gifts. Her style is to-the-point and no-nonsense balanced with compassion, laughter, and (sometimes dark) humour. She uses a mixture of therapeutic approaches such as Person-Centred, Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical Behavioural, and more.
