About Karen
I provide video/virtual and phone counselling to clients in Langley, Surrey, Maple Ridge and Abbotsford, and across British Columbia, for men and women struggling with eating disorder issues and for women’s individual issues.
Through warmth, compassion and collaboration, I aim to provide a safe place for you to share your experience. I align with a therapy that allows me to co-create a space with you, where together, as your story unfolds, you feel seen, heard, understood and guided forward.
You are a human that was hurt in some way and you made your way without the help you needed. Our natural inclination is to repel the pain. To recover, sometimes you need to better understand what happen and that it makes sense, together with better coping methods or better thoughts. Other times you need compassionate care for ithe pain in a way that allows you to find resilience, emotional balance, connection, healing and new prospects for your life and even your identity.
My Therapeutic Approach in food/body related issues is eating disordered informed. It is from a trauma and attachment focused care. It supports regulation and the nervous system. It assist you to repair your relationship with yourself and others and looks at underlying causes that create the struggle.
You can learn to heal, to care for your body and life in a way that helps you discover your worth, your voice, your ability to manage the triggers and heal the underlying causes of the triggers, You may wonder if you’re unwell enough for counselling and I’d say it is worth it to check it out.
Counselling for disordered eating or an eating disorder provides guidance for you in the challenges with food noice, triggers, and body image struggles. It allows you to get up in the morning and know you can manage better, and not be controlled by the number on the scale and difficulties that arise that send you into a binge or to restrict, and to over exercise. You can find greater capacity at life and new way that help you feel more alive.
Women’s counselling provides a space to pause, slow down and reconnect with yourself. It gives you someone to process what’s happened with, someone who can help you unpack it, discover what keeps you stuck and help you navigate to the other side. It offers you, as a women, support.

I am no different than you. I have faced life issues and found healing, so my counselling work is not just text-book, but has real life understanding. I enjoy talking with individuals about their life. So much can go into the making of a life. Some of these things can undo us. But these things can be turned around to make our lives into something desired and meaningful.
