About Karen

As a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters Degree in Applied Behavioural Sciences and a Masters Degree in Integrated Recovery for Co-Occurring Disorders, Karen has been passionate about helping adults, children and youth for over 30 years.

She believes in focussing on the strength and resilience of the individual and building on those unique qualities in order to move from surviving to thriving and flourishing. Karen applies neuroscience, and the understanding about the role of neuroplasticity in the brain to heal from mental health struggles. Karen works within a holistic framework, to empower the client. The process of therapy includes taking advantage of brain neuroplasticity to heal, create change, build resilience and move from distress to calmness, sadness to happiness.

Karen can provide therapy to children, youth, adults and families experiencing fears, trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, addiction issues, grief and loss, life transitions, relationships, and self esteem. She also has a special interest, training and experience working with individuals with autism. For the past twelve years, she has worked within a university counselling department and Child and Youth Mental Health.

Karen integrates many therapy modalities into her practice, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness Based Techniques, Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Based Therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma-focussed CBT. Meet Karen and begin your healing journey.
