About Karen

Karen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical
Counsellors. Karen offers counselling services for individuals, couples, and family
groups. She is a generalist practitioner who can support clients to work through a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, resolving the emotional impact of a traumatic experience, relationship issues, and life transitions.

As a family systems trained counsellor, Karen has a particular passion for helping people who are experiencing challenges with parenting, family conflict, or parents who are supporting a child with a mental health issue.

Karen focuses on fostering meaningful relationships and uses an integrated theoretical approach to explore issues and develop individualized plans. She utilizes theory, processes, and interventions from a variety of models to help clients achieve their goals.

Karen recognizes that it can be hard to find solutions on our own. She focuses on health and possibilities and believes it often takes only one session to experience significant shifts in our feelings, perceptions, and expectations. These shifts can help us to have our needs met, gain clarity, feel hope and be intentional about how we are living our life.

Karen spends the majority of her time working as the School Counsellor at Fernie
Secondary School and maintains a small private practice where she welcomes
individuals, couples, and family groups. On a personal note, Karen lives in Fernie with her husband and her three children. She is sometimes surviving and sometimes
thriving with the challenge of trying to balance children, work, and life.

Karen looks forward to supporting you when you are struggling to cope with the
problems that life presents. She hopes to help you experience transformational change and personal growth.
