About Kirsten JH
My hope is that I can provide effective counselling for individuals, couples and families who are struggling with distressed or disorganized feelings or thoughts, or experiencing relationship difficulties.
My practice centres on advanced training, a commitment to continued education and on going clinical supervision in Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MICBT). When working with couples, Advanced training in the Bader and Pearson Developmental Model with the Couples Institute.
While these have been my principle approaches for the past 10 years, they are informed by training, understanding and experience in several orientations of practice: Attachment therapy, Neuroscience and somatic sensing, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Behavioural therapy, Relational therapy, Interpersonal and psychodynamic therapy, Insight and Mindfulness practice, the medical model, Person-Centred, self regulation, and solution-focused therapy
I am strongly committed to a ethical and reflective practice. I use evidence-based interventions that support the biopsychosocial model of mental health, and have many years experience working with individuals, couples and families.
The services I offer include:
