About Komalpreet
Komal Sandhu is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She holds a Master of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Philosophy in Psychology, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling, and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP – Level 1).
Komal offers compassionate, trauma-informed, evidence-informed, and culturally responsive counselling. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and client-paced, creating a non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate difficult experiences and work toward meaningful change.
Her integrative approach incorporates both top-down and bottom-up therapeutic strategies, recognizing that emotional well-being involves both the mind and the body. Top-down approaches may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT-informed strategies, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and strengths-based work. Bottom-up approaches incorporate somatic and body-based strategies, nervous-system regulation, grounding, breathwork, and polyvagal-informed principles. Sessions are individualized according to each client’s needs, strengths, goals, comfort, and readiness.
Komal supports clients experiencing anxiety and panic, trauma and PTSD, depression and emotional numbness, stress and burnout, grief and loss, life transitions, chronic pain, self-esteem concerns, and personal growth. She also has experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and clients living with TBI, concussion, and other cognitive or communication-related needs.
She also provides ICBC counselling following motor vehicle accidents, supporting clients with concerns such as trauma responses, anxiety, changes in driving confidence, mood changes, pain-related emotional challenges, and adjustment following an accident.
Komal believes there is no single “right” way to do therapy. She works alongside clients at their pace to explore patterns, strengthen emotional regulation and coping skills, build resilience, and foster greater connection between mind and body.
Counselling is available in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, with in-person, virtual, and telephone sessions available.
