About Lauren
**PLEASE NOTE THAT MY PRACTICE IS CURRENTLY FULL. I DO HAVE A WAITLIST WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LONG**
I provide professional, non-judgmental, collaborative support to individuals and couples in Vancouver. I offer a safe and warm therapeutic environment for exploring your unique life challenges. I can help you to deepen your self-awareness and self-compassion, and break free from painful patterns. My therapeutic practice is guided by an attachment-based, trauma informed, client-centred, feminist, and strengths-based framework.
I recognize how difficult it can be to take the step of contacting a therapist for help, and the courage that it takes to look at our patterns of relating with ourselves, our loved ones, and the world as a whole – and I am passionate about helping my clients to access the courage to do this brave work. I also recognize that each person who walks through the door to my counselling office carries with them unique life circumstances and challenges. I acknowledge that you are the expert of your own experiences, and I would be honoured to collaborate with you in your journey of personal growth.
I have worked with countless individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and childhood sexual abuse. I focus on the long-term impacts of trauma on relationships, sense of self, and sexuality. I understand the importance of creating a safe relationship, which is the foundation for trauma recovery.
Sexuality is one of the most wonderful, complicated, scary, challenging, fun parts of being human. I offer a comfortable, non-judgemental space to discuss any sexual concerns. I am experienced in working with sexual minorities, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, practitioners of BDSM, and non-monogamous relationships.
New clients are welcome to book a FREE 20-minute initial consultation by emailing Lauren at shay.laur@gmail.com. Please note that following this consultation, you will be placed on Lauren’s waitlist (of approximately 6 months) before beginning counselling sessions.
