About Leah
I am deeply committed to the well being and growth of my clients. I assist individuals and couples to develop greater confidence in decision-making and through life transitions, to better manage daily demands, build stronger relationships, succeed at academics and reimagine careers.
I draw on skills and knowledge built through my work over the past 25 years in human development, education, career consulting, university advising, and as a mother of 2 now adult children. My graduate thesis research in student persistence and Masters in Counselling Psychology training at UBC provides the foundation for my evidence-based approach. I have also completed levels 1, 2, and 3 practicum training in Gottman couples therapy and use these well researched methods as I work with couples and with individual clients interested in developing more effective communication skills as well as stronger and more positive relationships.
I work with a diverse population of clients; experiencing anxiety, sadness, uncertainty in life or career transition, and diagnosed mental health challenges that impact wellbeing, academic performance, and success or comfort at work. I encourage clients to; explore their thinking habits and emotional experience, recognize their strengths and growth opportunities, and to establish and achieve personal, relational, academic, and career objectives.
I provide a holistic approach to clients that is client-centred, strengths-based, solution-focused, action oriented, and grounded in theories of positive psychology, human development, mindfulness, cognitive behaviour therapy, as well as acceptance and commitment therapy.
